Can you feel the Prejudice?

I often feel prejudice against me. I am a white woman who dates men of African American ethnicity and when ever i meet their parents often the mother wont like me. not for my mannerisms, or my appearance but simply because i am white. i have been told multiple times that i was not welcome to date their son because, “you white women come in here and take all the good black men and leave the bums for us black women.” I can’t help who i am attracted to or that her son is attracted to me.

The South African principal’s assumption that a student who does not conform to the middle-class norms of dress and speech is unlikely to succeed- or even survive- express and reinforce prejudice about a group’s inferiority by rendering relatively benign cultural practices as deviant, abnormal and dangerous.

-Everyday Antiracism, Prudence Carter

This is horrible that this student feels this from his principal but, in reality this is how the world is going to view them, it’s sad but it’s true.

According to the board’s argument, since students who spoke languages other than English can receive additional funding and special programs to address their lack or English fluency, African American students wo speak AAVE should also be eligible.

-Everyday Antiracism, John Baugh (2008)

This claim is ridiculous we should be teaching these students to speak proper english in the english classes provided.
